Pic-a-Papaya allows Citizen Scientists to submit photographs of papaya plants for the diagnosis and mapping of papaya ringspot virus in Hawaii. The app also provides instructions for residential users in Honolulu to submit papaya leaf tissue samples for a free GUS test to determine if a papaya plant is genetically engineered (GE). Free seed samples are available to users in Honolulu who wish to replace virus-infected plants or grow non-GE papaya plants. This app was produced by the University of Hawaii at Manoa College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (UH-CTAHR).
